LifeStyle Lacquer – Snow Queen & H.O.P.E

I’m a part of a Facebook group called Fantasmic Flakies because I’m a lover of all flakie polishes. I found a new to me brand called Lifestyle Lacquer that was a part of the December group custom. Snow Queen, a dark navy blue inspired by Frozen, consists of blue/purple/violet UUC flakies, cyan/blue shimmer and holo flakies. I used three coats for coverage but could’ve gotten away with two.LifeStyle Lacquer - Snow Queen LifeStyle Lacquer - Snow QueenI stamped over it using MASH Skyline Blue and BP-L053…

LifeStyle Lacquer - Snow QueenI can hardly ever buy 1 polish from an indie co without buying another. H.O.P.E (hold on pain ends) is a turquoise green polish with holographic pigment, UUC flakies, and hint of violet shimmer. LifeStyle Lacquer - H.O.P.EThis polish is special because it was created as a part of a group project to donate money to those struggling with substance abuse. After that project was over, the left over polishes are now limited edition until gone with 15% of each sale going to drugfree.org. LifeStyle Lacquer - H.O.P.EI used three coats for even coverage. And again, I did a little art using MoYou London Mercury and plate BP-L040.

LifeStyle Lacquer - H.O.P.EI’d definitely buy from Lifestyle Lacquer again. I’ll forever be addicted to flakie polishes…

If you haven’t already, check out the Fantasmic Flakies FB group, visit Lifestyle Lacquer and purchase either Snow Queen (7.5ml mini for $7.50, 15ml full size for $13) or H.O.P.E (15ml full size for $12), or both like I did!

Tonic Polish – Dragon Tears

I purchased Tonic Polish – Dragon Tears from Color4Nails and had to put it on immediately. I tried to show a ton of angles so you can see all of the colors this one shifts into. This is 3 coats with my usual basecoat-topcoat combo: Orly Bonder and Seche Vite.

Holiday Nails with Girly Bits, Vapid, Shleee, SuperChic Lacquer

Happy new year! I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday. I did a couple of different looks during the winter break that I wanted to share.

First up, Girly Bits – Grandma Got Run Over by a John Deere was the base to some stamping art using MoYou London black knight, Sugar Bubbles 11 and a couple of unlabeled MoYou London  polishes to color in the light bulbs.

Powder Perfect Swatch-fest

I made a couple of purchases after Thanksgiving but school kept me so busy I barely had a chance to even look at them. One of those purchases was a couple of Powder Perfect polishes from Live Love Polish. As soon as classes ended on the 18th, the first thing I did was take some photos.

First up is Utopia described as “a raspberry pink holographic polish with iridescent microflakes”. This ended up being one of my favorites…

Top Shelf Lacquer

I made a few purchases from a new-to-me brand right around Thanksgiving – Top Shelf Lacquer. The polish that made me swoon was called Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned from the Polish from a Picture Series. I knew I needed it as soon as I saw it.

Top Shelf Lacquer - Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned

Top Shelf Lacquer describes it as a “blackened teal base that shifts from deep green to teal to fuchsia with a scattered holo”.  My family always tells me I can’t possibly need any more polish because there can’t be a color I don’t already own…WRONG! I have nothing like this in my collection. I tried to have as many angles as possible to show the shifty-ness.

Top Shelf Lacquer - Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned

I used my usual Orly bonder basecoat and Seche Vite topcoat combo. Formula was great – three coats with no pooling at the cuticles or any issues at all.

Top Shelf Lacquer - Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned

Love it, love it, love it. On top of creating such a beautiful polish, Top Shelf Lacquer has customer service that’s out of this world. I’ve never received an email after placing an order that thanked me for placing my first order and asked for any feedback I might have. I was honestly blown away.

I placed another order a couple of days later during their Thanksgiving sale…

Top Shelf Lacquer - Freak Shot

Freak Shot is described as a tiffany blue-green / teal linear holo.

Top Shelf Lacquer - Freak Shot

I originally planned on stamping snowflakes over this one but couldn’t bring myself to cover this beauty up. Same base/topcoat combo as usual, three coats, same great formula as the first.

Top Shelf Lacquer - Freak Shot

I’m glad I stumbled across Top Shelf Lacquer. I’ve added them to the list of companies I’ll visit often. I saw so many good colors it was hard to choose. If you have any favorites from them please let me know so I can check them out!

You can buy Cinnamon Blueberry Old Fashioned for $12 (15ml full size) or $8.50 (8ml polish shot) and Freak Shot for $11 (15ml full size).

Fall Leaves Stamping with Vapid Lacquer, OPI & Moyou London

The month of November ended up being super stressful for me with school. While I didn’t post much, I did have a chance to do my nails in between the papers and exams I had due every week. I was on a leaf kick and did some fall stamping…

Vapid Lacquer - Smoke Screen leaf stamping

I used Vapid Lacquer – Smoke Screen as a base and made decals using plate BPL-026 and various MoYou London stamping polishes to make different color leaves.

Vapid Lacquer - Smoke Screen leaf stamping

I don’t make decals that often so I was a little rusty. I really liked how these came out and I’d definitely do them again!

Vapid Lacquer - Smoke Screen leaf stamping

I wish I had taken pictures of Vapid Lacquer – Smoke Screen before I added the decals because it’s an awesome fall color. I’ll get photos of it on its own soon…

Next up I used OPI – Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! as a base, stamped with MoYou London – Jungle Gold, and B Loves Plates – 04 Leaves of Happiness.

MoYou London + OPI gold leaf stamping

I decided to use a matte top coat by Sally Hansen. I ended up wearing this over the Thankgiving holiday.

I really liked the decals but the gold leaves were cute, too. Which one was your fav?

Classes are starting to wrap up for me, with one finishing up this week and the other two ending next Sunday. I have two posts lined up in the meantime then I’ll start working on some holiday nails before the 25th.

I’m going to work towards having a better posting schedule since my workload will be a little less next semester. I want to get into posting at least 3xs a week.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! I did a couple of manis to celebrate…

Baroness X EctofizzI used OPI – Never Have too Mani Friends as a background to my hand painted Ghostbusters logo using acrylic paint and berry wine and fine line brushes from Wistonia. The neon green glitter is Baroness X – Ectofizz LE. I was waiting for Halloween just to wear this color. This was released some time ago as a limited release. At the time of creating this post there are still two sets available. [ baroness x – le ectoplasm set comes with a jelly soap, acetone additive and ectofizz polish for $15]

Baroness X EctofizzI was so proud of the Ghostbusters logo. I haven’t done any freehand painting in awhile. ozotic pro 522Late last week before taking an exam, I took a break and stamped some webs using MoYou Black Knight and Pueen Marble Paradise plate 01 over Ozotic Pro – 522.

ozotic pro 522Ozotic Pro 522 is one of the few orange holos I own. I don’t like oranges on me but this one is a great background to these stamped watermarble webs.

I have three assignments and two exams due by Saturday but I’m trying to get back into posting 3xs a week.

Thanks for coming by! Have a happy and safe Halloween.

Unfinished 31 day challenge 2016

I took on 3 required courses this semester (project management, advanced database management, and UNIX) and they’ve been pretty tough. That on top of some personal stuff left me unable to finish the 31 day challenge.

Here are the rest of the looks I did for the challenge. If you follow me on instagram you’ve seen these already.

Enchanted Polish – No Doubt Collection

Live.Love.Polish had a surprise stock of Enchanted Polishes last week all named after No Doubt songs. As soon as I got these yesterday I had to try them on immediately.

All photos are taken indoors using my lightbox and Ottlight. Swatches are two coats using one coat seche vite. I thought I’d be a little rusty since I took a break from painting my nails but the formula was so good that none of these required clean up. They were almost opaque in one coat but I used two for even coverage. I didn’t have any staining with these but I didn’t keep them on that long…

First up is Bathwater – a bright teal blue holographic.

Overall I really liked all three of these with Spiderwebs being my overall favorite. That purple shimmer showed up a lot better in that bottle shot. I have to take these outside and really get a good look at them.

I got these from Live.Love.Polish for $18/each. I don’t have any restock info so sign up there to be updated.

#31DC2016 days 1-4

Happy Labor Day! I know I didn’t start off the challenge with daily posts but I’m hoping to get into posting daily for the rest of the month starting today. I got caught up with my first class (project management..woohoo) but I did paint my nails every day! Here are the first four days combined into one post…

Day 1: Red

31dnc2016_1redI used OPI – 5 Apples Tall, Ginger Liz – Is It Friday Yet?, and an unlabeled silver stamping polish. The plate used for the hearts is BP-11 and I created dots with a dotting tool. I left the Is It Friday Yet? without a topcoat because I loved the texture…

Day 2: Orange31dnc2016_2orange For day 2, I used China Glaze – Girls Just Wanna Have Sun for a base and used acrylic paint to make some fall leaves. This was probably the first time I used my Wistonia – Berry Wine brushes to create  something I liked…

Day 3: Yellow31dnc2016_3yellow For day 3, I used Lou it Yourself – Light Matter as a base and acrylic paint to create the sun. I thought this one was so cute and didn’t want to take it off…Again, I used my Wistonia – Berry Wine brush.

Day 4: Green31dnc2016_4green For day 4 I used Enchanted Polish – Lost Boy as a base and stamped leaves using MoYou London tropical 14 plate and unlabeled MoYou London polishes in light green, green, and blue.

I’m currently trying to come up with something for day 5…I should be posting soon.

Thanks for stopping by. If anybody else is doing the challenge I’d love to see what you’ve done so far!
